The I.B. Taylor-Kamara Foundation, Inc. (IBTK Foundation), a New York based non-profit organization, was established in 2005 by the children of the late Ishmael Byne Taylor-Kamara, a Sierra Leonean lawyer, civil servant and diplomat. The organization seeks to raise and provide funds to support the development of human and institutional capacity of Sierra Leoneans through funding local organizations to tackle the myriad challenges facing their country. The Foundation’s efforts are geared primarily towards the education sector, youth empowerment and gender equity. It has in the past, among other initiatives, funded research projects of University of Sierra Leone students, various scholarship programs, and supported programs spearheaded by women to increase their participation in the governance and decision-making arena in Sierra Leone.
Welcome to the I.B. Taylor-Kamara Foundation. As I reflect on this past year, I’m reminded of a moment that truly captured the essence of our work. In a small village in Sierra Leone, I met a young girl who had never stepped foot in a classroom. Today, thanks to our collective efforts, she’s not only attending school but dreaming of becoming a leader in her community. It’s stories like hers that remind me why we do what we do.
2024 has been a year of progress and partnership. Through co-facilitating, sponsoring, funding, and moderating key initiatives, we’ve worked alongside dedicated partners to make a tangible difference. Our focus—empowering youth, uplifting women, and fostering sustainable communities across Africa and the world—has been guided by our commitment to the United Nations' Agenda
2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Beyond the frameworks and goals, our mission is deeply personal. It’s about changing lives—whether through access to quality education, promoting gender equality, or taking actionable steps against climate change. Each success is a reflection of your unwavering support and the dedication of everyone involved in this journey.
Together, we are shaping a brighter future, and I couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead. I invite you to join us as we continue this vital work. Thank you for being a part of this mission and for helping us create lasting change that will be felt for generations.

Inspired by the life and legacy of H.E. Ishmael Byne Taylor-Kamara, we are driven by a deep commitment to service. We strive to make meaningful contributions to the communities we serve, improving lives and building a more just and resilient world. Through our 3 key pillars, our foundation fosters lasting, positive change in communities.
Empowering individuals with essential knowledge, vocational skills, and resources to make informed decisions. This foundation equips people to build resilient businesses and improve socio-economic well-being.
Facilitating financial independence and inclusive growth by providing access to funding, business support, and job creation, especially for women and marginalized groups. This pillar breaks down barriers to economic participation and disrupts cycles of poverty.
Promoting eco-friendly practices, resource conservation, and climate action to protect biodiversity and reduce emissions. By balancing human needs with ecological health, this pillar ensures a sustainable future for generations to come.
We empower individuals and communities by providing education, skill-building opportunities, and resources that foster self-sufficiency.
